Character name: Anna Milton
Genre (TV/books/etc): TV
Fandom: Supernatural
Canon point: Mid-4x21 "When the Levee Breaks"
Programmed Possession: None
Abilities/Weaknesses: Anna, being an angel of the Lord, is a very powerful being, whose full extent of abilities is unknown. It has been revealed by Anna, and a couple other angels that they have psychokinesis, the ability to teleport, superstrength, and formidable fighting skills, being warriors. To view an angel's true form is impossible for a human or demon, causing their eyes to burn in their sockets. An easy way to avoid that would to cover ones eyes in the presence of an angel in its true form. It is said that certain people --who specifically, is unknown-- can tolerate an angel's true visage and voice, without their needing to possess a human form. It's been seen that angels can exorcise demons, to a certain strength, from their host body with a touch of their hand. Angels can also render a human unconscious in that way. They can also travel through time, able to send whoever they wished, and themselves to the point of their choosing. Unfortunates, the 'Butterfly' theory doesn't exactly work here in the sense that a person may attempt to alter their timeline, but the ending is always the same, as you cannot change fate. Certain higher level demons can expell angels from their host forms, but only other angels may kill them.
Psychology/Personality: Before Anna fell, she was a warrior of God. Righteous. She spent two thousand years on earth. Silent. Invisible. Forced to watch people live out their lives, on an order from a Father that she'd never seen. This caused her to question everything she'd come to know. When Anna was young, around two and a half, she used to have hysterical fits. Her parents had her see a child psychiatrist, and the fits stopped. She grew up normal, then she started hearing voices. Believing she was crazy, she was committed to a mental institution. But she wasn't crazy, she was just an angel. Funny how those two are mixed up. Once she got her grace back (to be explained further in the history), Anna is shown as being stronger, not just in the full range of angel powers, but will-wise as well. She is supportive of Castiel considering disobedience. Saying it's the right thing to do. It may not be easy, but it's right, due to these troubling times. She rejects helping Castiel, telling him to think for himself, push the disobedience further. Anna, on the surface, seems like a sweet, young, twenty-something who enjoys chocolate cake and sex. But Anna the angel is powerful and it is unknown which side she will be on at the end of the world.
History: Anna Milton was born in 1985 to Rich and Amy Milton. Amy, who'd had trouble getting pregnant in the past, called Anna her 'little miracle'. When Anna was two and a half, she'd get extremely upset whenever Rich got close, she was convinced that he wasn't her real father. She'd babble on, saying that he wasn't her real father, her real father was very, very angry with her. Angry enough to kill her. Not exactly something a two year old usually talks about. Her parents sent her to see a psychiatrist and the episodes stopped. She grew up normal.
Until September 18th, 2008. She began hearing voices. Too many voices for her to even attempt to block out. They spoke of the Winchesters, and the end of the world. She tried to warn people, but they wouldn't listen to her, who would? Her parents had her committed at the Connor Beverley Behavioral Medicine Center. After speaking with her psychiatrist earlier in the day, Anna is visited by an orderly, possessed by a demon, who wants to kidnap her. Somehow, a chest of drawers pushes itself from the wall, and slams the demon into the door, temporarily knocking it out. Anna escapes, and runs to the place she feels safe, her home church. She hides up in the attic, and is found later, by Sam and Dean Winchester. She tells them that the voices, the angels, talked about them. A powerful demon, Alistair, comes for her, and as Sam and Dean attempt to fight him off, Ruby, a demon that's been aligning herself with the brothers, takes her somewhere safe, a dilapidated barn. The brothers arrive several hours later, and Anna begins to freak out, saying that they're coming. Two angels that the brothers are familiar with, Castiel and Uriel, arrive. They inform Sam and Dean that they're there to kill Anna.
The Winchesters refuse and a scuffle breaks out, Anna going to hide in a back room. Castiel makes short work of Sam, touching his forehead and knocking him out before starting over to the door. As he opens it, he and Uriel disappear in a flash of light. Dean comes to check on Anna, and it shows that she's cut her arms, tracing a sigil on the mirror in the room, in blood. A spell to send the angels far away, giving them time to escape. They drive to South Dakota, to Bobby Singer's house. Bobby, an old friend of the brothers, had a room in the basement, his panic room, that kept any demon from entering, keeping her safe from the dark side. Ruby, having been a witch while she was alive, made hexbags to make them all invisible to angels, demons, anyone supernatural. Not knowing why Anna was being chased down by everyone in heaven or hell, they call on the help of Pamela Barnes, a psychic whose eyes were seared from their sockets when she tried to force Castiel to reveal his true form when Dean had been pulled from hell. Pamela joins Anna in the panic room and through hypnosis, we find out that Anna is an angel. It's revealed that she ripped out her grace, her angelic energy, and fell to earth.
With a little research, they find out that when she fell, her grace fell also, appearing to be something like a meteorite, landing in Kentucky. Believing that she'd be safer reunited with her grace, the four, Sam, Dean, Ruby, and Anna travel to Kentucky, finding a large, beautiful oak tree where her grace had landed. Anna approached the tree, only to find her grace no longer resided within. They find a place to stay, and Anna overhears the angels message to deliver her to them, or they'd throw Dean back into hell. While they scurry to find a way to keep Anna safe and retrieve her grace, Anna and Dean take a moment, using the excuse that it's their last night on earth and make love in the backseat of the Impala. Dean dreams that he's visited by Uriel, who has Anna's Grace in a vial that he keeps around his neck.
The next morning, Castiel and Uriel arrive for Anna. Uriel had given Dean a different offer. Either they kill Anna or the kill Sam. It's common knowledge that the Winchesters are each others weakness and Dean told them where they were. Anna kisses Dean good-bye, then tells Castiel to make it quick. Alistair and two other demons break up the party, and a fight between the angels and demons quickly ensues. While Uriel was exorcising a demon, the vial containing Anna's Grace is seen and Anna grabs it, breaking the container. Anna's Grace is restored and she disappears in a blinding flash of light, causing Alistair to disappear.
Several months later, it appears that only Alistair's body was destroyed in that bright light and he was sent back to hell. He returned during an attempting breaking of a seal, breaking sixty-six of them will unleash Lucifer and the end of the world. Castiel brings Dean to the building they're keeping him in, to torture him. While Dean is in the room, torturing Alistair, Anna visits Castiel, in a replica of her human body. Castiel informs her that he still has orders to kill her, but she tells him that she's sure that he won't. Anna questions if the order for Dean to torture Alistair was from God or somewhere else. She tries to persuade Castiel into joining her, and together they could do something to stop this. Find out why someone is killing angels, if it was God giving the orders. He refuses, saying he is nothing like her, and orders her to leave.
Later that evening, after Alistair is broken free of the Devil's Trap by a leaky pipe and attacks Dean, fights with Castiel, and is killed by Sam, Castiel goes to a park, calling out for Anna. She appears and he admits that he's thinking of disobeying. She warns him that it gets more and more difficult as he attempts independence. He flinches at her touch, but begs her to tell him what to do. She declines, telling him it's time to think for himself before disappearing once more.
When Bobby and Dean find out that Sam has been drinking Ruby's blood to further his growing demonic abilities, they lock him up in Bobby's panic room to detox. Late in the evening, Sam is released from being handcuffed to the cot by an unseen force, which turned out to be Castiel. After Sam escapes, Castiel is seen standing on a pier in an industrial area. He turns to see Anna, who questions him. She demands why he released Sam when he knew that the apocalypse was fast approaching. Castiel replies that they were his orders and that she shouldn't have come. Two angels appear on either side of Anna and the three of them disappear in a bright light.
